I like to think I'm a pretty good person overall.
I take care of my family, I work hard at my job.
I even share my chocolate stash...well, most of the time.
So, why is it so much fun to write from the point of view of a villain?
I believe in law and order.
I pay my taxes and donate to charity.
I have no secret desire to cause murder or mayhem.
But, boy is it fun to write as if I did!
Creating a character who is a little twisted,
who plots and plans to destroy another
and who really is a nasty piece of work
is a whole lot of fun!
The characters in Until Release are a varied lot
They're (mostly) not all good or all evil
They're (mostly) just human beings
Which means they're an interesting mix of both
So, I think it's okay to enjoy
playing Voldemort
as long as it's just playing
Because as Miss Congeniality says, ...
How about you? Do like reading/writing the villain's point of view?
Do you share your chocolate stash?
Exploring the facets of time, eleven authors delve into mysteries and crimes that linger in both dark corners and plain sight. Featuring the talents of Gwen Gardner, Rebecca M. Douglass, Tara Tyler, S. R. Betler, C.D. Gallant-King, Jemi Fraser, J. R. Ferguson, Yolanda Renée, C. Lee McKenzie, Christine Clemetson, and Mary Aalgaard.
People are a mixture of both, no matter how hard they try to be good. And sometimes, you just have to let the bad out.
ReplyDeleteYou really do - as my characters well know! :)
DeleteVillains can be more fun than the hero.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely true!!
DeleteSometimes I do and sometimes I don't. My villains have way too many emotional problems. :)
ReplyDeleteYes - when you're writing horror, some of your villains are going to be very upsetting!
DeleteI love exploring the layers of villains. I always try to find some nugget of sympathy for them to share with the readers.
ReplyDeleteIt's so important that the villains are real and not cardboard cutouts!
DeleteI don’t like to read or write from the villains POV. I’m a fixer so it totally goes against the grain. Lol.
ReplyDeleteThat would normally describe me as well - but I had SO much fun with Until Release, we'll see what happens next :)
DeleteVillains POV? I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteBut who knows... there's always a first time.
I loved your story. (you should write more suspense...)
Thanks Michelle! I'm actually thinking about it - UNTIL RELEASE was so much fun!! :)
DeleteI agree with you. I enjoy writing from the bad/evil character's POV view too. :)

Yay! I'm not alone! :)
